Guidelines for eLetters

Electronic Letters (eLetters) are published online only. They are short, timely, topical, and relevant comments on Research and Review articles published in Science Advances in the past 6 months. Submissions should be less than 1,000 words. Statements should be supported by full references when appropriate, with a maximum of 10 references. eLetters should not include announcements for commercial products; self-promotion of published or unpublished work; or material that has previously been published online or in print. Science Advances will not publish material that is offensive, derogatory, obscene, infringing of any third party's rights, about personal medical issues, or contrary to local, national, and international laws and regulations.

eLetters are posted at the editors' discretion. eLetters are not peer reviewed, and they may or may not be edited for style and clarity. Authors are not contacted before posting. All eletters are subject to editorial evaluation and are not immediately posted. To avoid restating points that have already been made, please read other responses before submitting your own. Your name, full affiliation (company or university and department), and e-mail address are required to post a response.

eLetters are available on the Science Advances Web site eLetters Collections page. Each posted eLetter is linked to the article on which it comments. eLetters are not given DOIs and are not indexed in search engines such as Medline.

Conflict of Interest. If you have financial or professional affiliations that could be perceived as a conflict of interest in responding to the relevant Science Advances article, please describe those affiliations at the end of your submission. The information will be posted along with your eLetter.
